Education
Velvet Ensemble Education seeks to engage young people in a number of ways and on a number of themes. All activities seek to inspire, build aspiration and confidence. Velvet Ensemble Education’s Victoria John and Jennifer Lunn have been working in both Primary and Secondary Schools for over 5 years. We have a strong team of creative and experienced workshop facilitators and actors who have a proven track record.
We have an ever expanding portfolio of workshops and are always working with schools to design and develop workshops and activities to their specific needs.
Our Work includes:
Enterprise Activities – we have a long standing, on going relationship with Greenwich and Bexley Education Business Partnerships offering a range of enterprise activities covering topics such as Being Enterprising, Money Management, Fair Trade, Customer Services and Interview Techniques.
Work Experience Preparation – this is an interactive performance delivered to every Year 10 group in all Greenwich Borough Secondary Schools. This workshop introduces scenarios that students might encounter whilst on work experience as well as equipping them with strategies and tools to help them maximize their experience.
Forum Theatre Workshops – these explore various issues relevant to young people – creating scenarios and giving the audience the chance to enter the scene and resolve conflicts.
Text Based Workshops – performance focused workshops exploring aspects of set texts physically and innovatively.

What the Schools say about us:
“The girls thoroughly enjoyed the activity. Your style is so enthusiastic and full of humour. I love it!!! Please come and work here every day!”
Ms Osbourne, Eltham Hill School.
“Well managed by all staff involved. Well planned and resourced project. Definitely useful for students to experience this type of enterprise/work related tasks.”
Mr Agnew, Eltham Hill School.
“The students were delighted to be able to experience working situations whilst watching role play and the feedback from the event has been extremely positive.
I would like to take this opportunity to thank you and the rest of your colleagues involved. It is always a pleasure to work with external organisations, and we look forward to the future of how we can build on this partnership.”
Ms Marie Woodcraft, Thomas Tallis School
“I thought that the performance was very good because it was:
- Informative
- Active
- Done in bite size bits
- It consolidated points as you went along
- Lively
- Visual
- Not didactic
- It showed the points being made
- The students ‘discovered’ the points and weren’t merely ‘told’ what to think
I felt the acting was good as their characters were very believable to the students, it was spot on in terms of the target audience, and finally it was certainly fit for purpose. I thought that you personally were excellent as you were very enthusiastic, dramatic, you held the audience, and had excellent control in a positive way.”
Ms O’Malley Blackheath, Bluecoat School.
“Victoria, with her company Velvet Ensemble, has been commissioned to devise and deliver drama workshops for young people. Recently she has devised a drama workshop for preparing students for work experience currently touring around Greenwich Schools. Last summer she devised a drama workshop working with young people at the risk of becoming NEET (not in education, employment and training).
Victoria is an excellent presenter and workshop leader and we have also
received fantastic feedback from schools and students alike stating how much
they have enjoyed her workshops. She has a very good manner with young
people. At all times I have found Victoria to be dependable, reliable, hard-working
and conscientious. Always putting 100% in to everything that she does.”
Ms O'Donnell, Project Officer, Greenwich Education Business Partnership.
